I didn’t do a post yesterday, there wasn’t much to say and I was trying to study. ….sorry. But I will begin with yesterdays news and then move on to today’s.
Gallas has suddenly gone from public enemy number 1 to hero of the hour, Almunia and Diaby are his biggest fans. Almunia states
“I think he is playing better than before. I spoke to him last week and he told me that now he is playing better because he is not losing too much energy because he is not worried about other things and other players or other circumstances off the pitch.”
Maybe he is right, maybe being captain was too much for responsibility for Gallas to handle.
Whilst Diaby told L’Equipe: “I am very happy for him, above all after everything that happened….William has the soul of a captain. During difficult moments, he is always present. Today, he helped us to get through that mess.”
Also I must add and I’m sure many of you will be delighted to hear this, Young striker Jay Simpson has signed a new deal with Arsenal. He is off to WBA on loan in January, if he can impress there, who knows where his future is with this club.Good on him!
OK as for today’s news, the Guardian and the Sun are reporting as my title suggests that we are moving for the little Spaniard Mikel Arteta. Now this is an interesting story, who knows what to believe, but he would certainly do a job for us. He is creative, has bags of experience in the premiership and when Cesc returns, they in my opinion could form a great partnership. The Guardian states
“Moyes and his chairman, Bill Kenwright, have stressed that they will be dismissive of interest in their players in the transfer window. “None of our players is for sale,” said Kenwright this week in the wake of potential interest from Manchester City in Arteta and Joleon Lescott. Yet Arsenal could test that resolve and would be prepared to pay up to £12m for an experienced creative midfielder who will improve their squad and, potentially, be able to work effectively alongside his compatriot Fábregas when the Spaniard returns to full fitness.”
I would be delighted with the signing , but would i prefer Alonso to Arteta, probably yes…….would Liverpool now sale Alonso to us, I highly doubt it.
With news regarding Andrei Arshavin, the Mirror states he is prepared to take a pay cut to move to Arsenal. The Zenit Saint Petersburg midfielder is on £90,000 a week but is ready to reduce his wages in order to clinch a £12million move to the Emirates.Russia star Arshavin, 27, signed a new deal at Zenit last April that included a £24m buy-out clause – which put off Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea. But Zenit have reduced their demands and they are now more in line with the Gunners’ valuation of the star.
A source close to Arshavin said: “He accepts the financial climate has changed but would still welcome a move to England.”
Right that’s fantastic news…….and most likely breeze.
The most interesting story I have come across today, which probably has no truth in it whatsoever but made me chuckle is that it seems Kolo Toure has fallen out with Gallas and will now demand to leave in January.
A source told the Daily Star: “Kolo doesn’t want to stay – he cannot stand Gallas and Gallas cannot stand him.
“Gallas is showing him complete disrespect and Kolo believes he’s been mouthing off to Wenger about them not being able to play together and Wenger is listening to him.”
I love it when these bullshit newspapers state a ’source’ has told them, you can bet any money its pure fabrication and the tabloids want to just sell papers.
Anyway….that’s all for now, have a great New Years eve whatever you are doing and Happy New Year!
Thanks for reading!

Yep – the papers are usually full of crap and must be taken with a very healthy pinch of salt. Arteta would be a brilliant signing but could never see Everton selling him – if they did they would probably demand a ridiculous amount for him as without him they would probably be relegation fodder.
Toure and Gallas hating each other is complete shite agreed – what I will say is that Toure has been a mere shadow of the player he has been the past couple of seasons but cannot explain why. Perhaps the Malaria he caught earlier in the year had a longer lasting effect on him mentally and physically than was originally thought. Still think his brother would be the ultimate signing as, for me, he is one of the best holding midfielders in the world but again can not see Barcelona letting him go.
Gallas was always a bit too moody to be captain but has always been a top player – just think he needs a solid and reliable partner (a la Vidic) next to him but that has still to be addressed by Wenger – not sure Sylvestre is the answer.
Bendtner should be sold or loaned out as he still does not do enough for me to warrant as many starts as he gets – perhaps with a lesser team he’ll have more success – much prefer Vela but he rarely gets to play unfortunately.
Denilson is very good and am glad Wenger has given him his chance although still think he needs to be slightly more aggressive and possibly build himself up more as he can seem slightly lightweight against more physical opponents.
As for all the other rumours – Arshavin, Alonso, Inler etc. all would be great acquisitions but can’t see any of them happening – would love to be proved wrong though!!
Good blog – much better than 606 rubbish with their poxy houserules and endless amount of dire articles supported by an unlimited amount of idiot comments!!!
Keep it up and happy new year to you

Chelsea fan here but I am enjoying reading your blog. Although we are supposed to be mad rivals geographically… I cannot fucking stand Man U/Livershit and I’d be quite happy to toss the title between us two for a while!
I’ll keep reading!
